Recently picked up and started working on a neglected/barn find 75 Seafari 20' that has a hull and many other things in great shape. Found out there is saltwater in the oil and a head gasket issue. Deciding to sell it for what I have in it or do a new motor with closed cooling system. It is already setup with a 2016 Mercruiser 225hp 4.3L with alpha 1 outdrive (2008), new gas tank (2005), rewired (2008). Trying to get a handle on what the value would be once all dialed in with new motor/transom seal/closed cooling system. Has galvanized trailer that I completely went through with all new everything except galvanized frame. New 15" rims, new tires/hubs/disc brake conversion/surge brake tongue coupler/bunks/chains/winch/wiring/lighting all brand new and tracks perfectly.

Need to show the wife that the motor investment is worth it and this site seems to be the best resource of people who know and love these boats. Feel like this boat is the boat I want to keep for many years and for many reasons.
    Thanks

"Need to show the wife that the motor investment is worth it"......oh boy, you added in another degree of difficulty!!!

If it's me I'm removing the IO, new 25" transom and going outboard with no bracket. As it's been said many times, go to a boat show and look what a new 20' boat costs. It's worth a re-power!

Yes, show her the price of a new boat and see what she says.

Still curious about what fair market would be for it once repowered.

I will take some new ones now that I have cleaned and improved several areas of the boat. Currently only have pics from when I purchased it. No spidering of gel coat, nice new captain seats and new adjustable mounts, bimini top and all sides that zip on to make enclosure, custom waterproof cover, new thick pads for in cuddy, cuddy looks brand new inside, teak is in very good shape, currently working on polishing aluminum window frames and resetting all glass with new seals. It is a very nice example of a 75 Seafari with lots of great accessories and trailer in new/rebuilt condition. Hull is in amazing shape but does need a bottom paint job. New motor and bottom paint are the only thing it needs. Have brand new $1200 garmin fish finder too that is going to be installed. Dual modern bilge and dual battery setup. It is dialed in. Better to follow in next couple of days.

Good advice, take her to a boat show or nearest dealer to show her that, first; there are VERY few new boats of this size with as nice a cabin/cockpit arrangement as the Seafari, just about everything out there around 20' nowadays is a CC, and second; Anything around 20' is close to a $100k!
